Great pics Paul, the Red Alert ones espesh (although Mark is looking a bit demonic in the 2nd one). The camera has been unkind to Ricky at past parties but not at this one it seems.
However I must say, and there’s a great story behind this, the clean-shaven energetic Ricky seen on Saturday night was a million miles away from the sorry-looking bearded and bleary-eyed man who I spotted limping into the M1 motorway services as I stood sipping a coffee. Nah that can’t be him I thought as he limped past - Ricky would never look that scruffy and miserable on his way to a Shaky party. But then his eyes met mine, the double-take, and “Kris! Is that you?”. Classic!
I was already travelling up in Paul & Sally’s car but didn’t want our Ricky to fall asleep at the wheel so offered to keep him company for the rest of the journey in exchange for DJ control on the car stereo. I must say that leg of the journey flew by much quicker than the depressing slog in Paul’s motor...
The party itself kicked off with the excellent combination of curry & chips and Cadillac 59, both warming up the crowd nicely. Then Red Alert, featuring the world’s tallest guitarist, looking even taller with Ricky in front of him... Great player as noted (along with C59’s bassist), pulling off those Micky Gee licks with style as Ricky rocked out. Then the usual grab bag of Shaky classics and increasingly unsteady dancing as the low-priced bar took effect, before the impromptu novel twist of a Shakeoke finale, with Billy’s My Cutie Cutie a personal highlight. I had a couple of turns myself with Paul, although was pretty wasted by this point so it wasn’t pretty, then I vaguely remember nearly taking someone’s eye out with the mic stand during a vigorous air guitar solo
After thanks and farewells, Trudy and husband took pity on me & Mark staggering back to the hotel in the cold and kindly offered to drive us the 200m there, where we bumped into Sean & Steve on the way back to their room. Fortunately the hotel bar was still open so we did the right thing and had a final round of drinks over an epic series of doubles pool, in which Sean and Steve were blown off the table by Mark’s relentless potting.
The last thing I remember was waking up in the middle of the night to the sounds of Mark violently snoring - I had to go over to his bed to punch him in the arm, which actually did the trick (sorry mate, had to be done!)
And so concluded an epic night. Thanks to Graham and everyone who made it happen and apologies for being a bit miserable at the breakfast table. I had the Guinness hangover from hell and was lamenting the fact that we wouldn’t make it back to London in time to see my beloved QPR, although Sally certainly made a good attempt of it. What a ride...
Thanks.

'Boll*x' is all I can say to that Anyway, the depression ended the minute you jumped ship to sail in the Rickimobile
I Have seen some great DVD footage tonight at Charlie's gaff (our cameraman) and it's superb! ...and a very VERY loud and pissed Kris slaughtering every song that he took the mic to..
YouTube footage coming soon... (and more photos)

Aw, be kind to me please I may have sounded loud but it was just that my mic was turned up louder and had that booming echo effect added to it...
And word out to Charlie the cameraman, who patiently and diligently filmed every second, even though I can't bear to watch any of it

HA HA HA HA Reading this whilst in Sunny Spain, Summed it up superbly Kris.
Just to let you guys know. did my first show out here last night, 30 mins of pure Shaky. The crowd loved it. I was surprised as Turning away got the best response, probably cos i announced it as a lesser known song from the rest but still a great song..

Hi all, a big thanks to you all to Graham, Paul, Ricky Aron and Red Alert, and to Garham's band Cadillac 59, what a fantastic night, as usual had fun dancing to the music, as you know me I cant sit still, drinking tea most of the night. It was well worth the trip from Scotland, we had a ball , Ricky Aron and Red Alert always a true professional Ricky and making my night as well. The music was awesome and the shaky fans that were there goes without saying, we are just one big happy shaky family.
The raffle well what can I say great amount of money £200 pounds fantastic, Jackie did such a great job as well. and I cant believe I won again, but 3 times , what lottery I am doing the Shaky Lottery ha ha. Sorry missed Breakfast guys to busy up all night gabbing to Martin and Jackie, oh well always next time. Thanks again for all your hard work and effort .
