Paint It Green wrote:Ok guys, just to let you know that there have been other online petitions running for the past 18 months calling for the knighthood of author Terry Pratchett, including a petition on the same site as our Shaky one: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/ter ... thood.html

This is an official government reply: http://www.number10.gov.uk/Page12236

And anyone who's seen the news today will see what the end result has been: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/book ... chett.html

It just goes to show that these campaigns do actually serve a purpose, so we need to get a lot more signatures onboard - please beg friends & fam to lend a hand! I know there are also many forum members who for whatever reason have yet to sign the petition - all I can say to them is put any such reasons aside and please help out for the common good

We'll probably need more names before any of Shaky's many celeb fans will get on board, and when that happens it becomes a media story in itself - earlier this year a story circulated in the press just because Johnny Vegas and Mick Jagger signed an online petition to get Ken Dodd honoured: http://www.nme.com/news/the-rolling-stones/34563

So it really is a win-win situation 8)

come on guys as Kris said put any reservations to one side and lets get everyone on this forum to sign, then we can go into the public eye in a greater force with some healthy numbers on the petition...... lets really make this a happy new year for Shaky and for us all to share with him the honour of recognition that is long over due!!!!!!!!

Mark,
how about putting the link on the front of the home page so everyone can see it when they log in???
Regards,

Sean

Hey Sean,

No word as yet, but I'm actually going to wait a little while longer before chasing them up so we've got as many signatures as possible when they see it, proving how much support it already has. The more support visible, the more likely they will lend their own.

It's been increasing nicely in numbers since it started so won't be long before we hit the 300 mark, then hopefully 500. There are tens of thousands of fans out there - it's just a case of publicising it and letting them know the campaign is on, which is what Mark & I & others are doing our best to do.

So come on the non-signing forum members: we know who you are...

Kris

Have you created a Group on Facebook for this? This would reach millions so easily!!

Aha, not created a group but have posted the appeal on the biggest Shaky FB fan group which has a few thousand members, both in the forum section and as a posted item on its homepage.

If you or any other Facebook user wants to go one step further and create a specific group for it then that's fine - I'd rather it was someone else as don't want to spread myself too thin...

if there is anything else i can do please let me know - this is going to happen mate

Maybe reply to the petition thread on the forum in the Shakin Stevens fan club group on Facebook, which will do the same thing and keep it in the #1 position...
