New Years Honours List

Postby shaky10 on Sun Dec 28, 2008 12:52 pm

I know we discuss this every year but lets put some serious thought into this for next year as it is too late for 2009.
Anyone know how we go about suggesting our man for the honour? I see Brucie had some sort of petition at # 10 Downing Street to validate him a knighthood!
If this is something we would all like to contribute to lets nominate a campaign team with a co ordinator! - any ideas guys ??

I could see that happening. That would be fantastic if he got honoured!

As silly as it may seem I have a question, that is:

Does Shaky want to be honoured for anything?

Shaky has always said he is proud to have " paid his dues". I'm sure he would be delighted to be recognised for this. Why not us on here put a group word in to those concerned. They are mainly nominations after all.

Oh I'm sure he would. He's very proud of what he's done and I'm sure he would be honoured by the fact that it was recognised by a honour.

I think some sort of honour for Shaky is very deserved. Some sort of petition could work...

Think about it, Shaky has brought a lot of revenue into this country and has also taken his music to Europe, just like an Ambassador.

Shaky is a national treasure ;o)

Ok guys, just to let you know I have been on this case for a couple of months now.

I've been utilising my press contacts and recently got in touch with the agents of Matt Lucas & Rob Brydon to try and enlist them in this effort, if not to get Shaky knighted then at least to realise Stuart Cable's suggestion of erecting a commemorative statue in Wales! My emails have been forwarded to the stars themselves and I'm awaiting their responses, which the agents say should arrive in January following their hectic Christmas schedules. The campaign would really go stellar if it had Lucas & Brydon and their celebrity mates on board - the tabloids would love it. 8)

Anyway, in the mean time I've set up a petition online to gather as many signatures as possible, which should give a further nudge to the celebs, who would in turn give a further boost to the petition. It's a win-win situation either way as the petition can be forwarded to the government if it accrues enough signatures, so get signing! Here's the link: http://www.gopetition.com/online/24212.html

Let me know if you think I should amend or add anything to the spiel I've written. Didn't want to mention the celebrity fans just yet for fear of being presumptuous and putting them off...
